My conversation with LES BROWN

We were all born with a certain degree of power. The key to success is discovering this innate power and using it daily to deal with whatever challenges come our way.
Les Brown

If you are big on personal development then one way or the other you must have come across talks, conferences, videos and teachings of Les Brown. And if you have, then you must know how big of a deal he is.

So I had the opportunity to attend a masterclass with Les Brown! A living legend of the public speaking world. This master class was put together by Dr Stephen Akintayo, Africa’s most influential investment coach.

I remember also attending the one with Brian Tracy last month and the next one will be with Robert Kiyosaki Author of the Bestselling book – Rich Dad Poor Dad and I hope you won’t miss it for anything.

I got the chance to ask Les Brown a question and I got two things from his answers. Not entirely new, but just a confirmation and strongly reaffirming what I already know. Brings to mind the words of Steve Harris“it is not what you don’t know that is the problem, it is what you do know but don’t know how to use.” Indeed success leaves clues, may we find the clues and run with them.

My question;

What do you do when you are working on an idea and for so long it does not seem to work? Despite the fact that you are putting in your best and yet no tangible results to show for it.

His answer;

Are you coachable? _ I said yes. He said, good. Then get a coach, someone who would see with fresh eyes what you might be missing. Also, never you give up on your idea he said, God gave it to you, so work it out. Change your approach, invite someone else to look at your plans but by all means make it work!

Me, just after asking Les Brown my question.

Why am I sharing this with you?

If Les brown who is one of the most famous and highest-paid speakers in the world advises that I get a coach, because he mentioned that He does have a coach too, then you and I should know that we cannot neglect the importance of having a coach that we work with closely. But you might say, but I cannot afford a coach right now. I totally understand but rather than leave it at that, can you ask yourself this; how can I raise the fund I need to pay a coach that I can work with to push me to my next level?
When we ask the right questions, we would get the right answers.

The second part of Les Brown’s answer to me is everything because that is within my locus of control. Actually, that depends on me absolutely. I need to keep reminding myself that I am the woman for the job and you should do the same.

The smiles on our faces show our emotions after the answer.

It reminds me of a conversation I had with one of my masterminds last week. The ideas that come to us, especially the ones we caught, are not just for fun. God did not give us access to them so that we can fail at them. No way! He knows that He has put in us what it takes to birth those ideas and that is exactly why they came to us. So when they don’t work, it’s not the idea that is faulty but our approach to executing it. And like I am learning at SPIN with Dr Samuel Ekundayo, I’ve got to go back to Him (God) the giver of the idea, ever so often to get the direction of how best to execute the idea he has placed in my heart/head/hands.

I believe that God has given us everything that we need to succeed in life, we just need to dig deep and connect with them as well as work with the external help that is available all around us in form of Coaches, Books, Courses, Messages e.tc. Will you spend some time connecting within? Will you also get the help you need externally? The decision is absolutely yours, I hope you’d make the right one today.

My desire and prayer for you this week is that you find that connection, that you get that clarity that you so long for, and that you go farther in your journey to excellently executing on your God-given ideas and in the same process fulfil your purpose.

One of the ideas that God gave to me is to help African authors leave a digital footprint in the audiobook space and to do this we need more audiobook producers, narrators and editors. And for me to fulfil this mandate I put together a course to teach others what I do so that we can all together make this mandate a reality. Do you feel a connection to this mandate? Have you been blessed with a voice that can do more than talk? Would you like to learn how to use your voice as an instrument for impact and income? Then you should sign up for THE AUDIO BOOTCAMP COURSE.
